What’s Wrong With Voyager 1 Probe?
Voyager 1, Earth’s farthest spacecraft is exploring the area of space where nothing from Earth has ever flown before. Voyager is in trouble. The engineering team with NASA’s Voyager 1 spacecraft is trying to solve a mystery.
The spacecraft has sent back stunning images and vital data from interstellar space that has previously been shrouded in mystery.
But in a new turn of events, Voyager 1 seems to be sending weird signals from beyond the solar system — and nobody really knows why.
The twin Voyager 1 and 2 are perhaps two of the most famous spacecraft in the history of space exploration. They are pure gold, pure record holders. For instance, just think about the fact that they were designed to explore Jupiter and Saturn, but the mission was extended and flew to Uranus and Neptune, and then further and further, reaching the outermost edge of the Sun’s domain. And beyond. are exploring where nothing from Earth has flown before.
Continuing on their more-than-40-year journey since their 1977 launches, they each are much farther away from Earth and the sun than Pluto. In August 2012, Voyager 1 made the historic entry into interstellar space, the region between stars, filled with material ejected by the end of nearby stars millions of years ago. Voyager 2 entered interstellar space on November 5, 2018, and scientists hope to learn more about this region.
Both spacecraft are still sending scientific information about their surroundings through the Deep Space Network, or DSN.
