What If Gravity is NOT Quantum?
Gravity is a fundamental force that permeates the fabric of the universe, shaping the motion and interactions of celestial bodies on scales both vast and minute. First described by Sir Isaac Newton in the 17th century and later refined by Albert Einstein’s theory of general relativity in the early 20th century, gravity is a force that governs the behavior of matter and dictates the structure of the cosmos.
This omnipresent influence extends from the gravitational pull holding planets in orbit around stars to the subtle bending of light as it travels through space. As we delve into the intricacies of gravity, we uncover its role in shaping the dynamics of our universe and influencing the very fabric of spacetime itself.
The holy grail of theoretical physics is to come up with a quantum theory of gravity. But after a century of trying we really have no idea how close we are, or it it’s even possible.
But we shouldn’t feel bad because it turns out that the universe is doing everything it its power to make this as difficult as possible. Or it’s telling us that it isn’t. Should we take the hint?
