Titan’s Ancient Nitrogen Lakes – Largest Moon Of Saturn
Titan revived as the biggest moon of Saturn is one among the most exciting and enigmatic objects in the solar system. Titan is peculiar among Solar System’s moons because its thick atmosphere has some features resembling the Earth’s one; its surface is covered with organic sand dunes, rivers, lakes and seas filled with liquid hydrocarbons.
Further down still, there’s a subsurface ocean consisting of water and ammonia making the moon all the more promising as a possibly inhabited world.
The orange tint in Titan’s atmosphere is due to complex organic compounds that suggest the chemical activity that resembles the chemistry of the first terrestrial Earth. It remains an object of great interest for scientists as they are attracted by the possibility to reveal the mysteries of life and planetary systems on the distant and rather unfamiliar planet.
