This Planet Is Moving Toward Its Doom
Kepler-1658b is an exoplanet, which means it is a planet that orbits a star outside of our solar system. It was discovered by NASA’s Kepler spacecraft in 2015 and is located about 2,200 light-years away in the constellation Cygnus.
Kepler-1658b is a gas giant planet that is approximately three times the size of Jupiter, and it orbits very close to its host star, completing an orbit in just 3.85 days. The planet is also extremely hot, with temperatures reaching up to 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit (982 degrees Celsius).
In a star system far, far away – to be more precise, 2,600 light years away – there is an exoplanet called Kepler-1658b. It’s a gas giant that resembles our Jupiter.
But what differentiates it from Jupiter is that this poor planet is doomed. It’s spiraling toward its parent star, which will eventually end in a fiery collision! Will it have any effect on us down on Earth?
