A volcano is a geological feature that results from the eruption on the Earth’s surface of molten rocks, gases, and ashes that have been forced through the crust and may emerge in the form of a mountain or hill. This occurs with the help of an opening or a vent, which might cause an explosion or a gradual arrival of the lava. Volcanoes therefore occur due to movement of tectonic plates and heat from the Earth’s mantle.

Volcanoes are known to form topographies and new can significantly alter the climate and geography through their activities such as eruptions.

It can be found autonomously on land and underwater and some of which include Mt. Vesuvius, Mt. St. Helens and underwater volcanic ridges which forms at divergent tectonic plates.

About 1,500 volcanoes around the world are considered to be active, with more than 10% of them in the United States. Is there any way we could stop them before the destruction begins? Could we literally fight fire with fire? What if we nuked an active volcano?
