The Milky Way Galaxy is being drawn toward a mysterious region known as “The Great Attractor.”
You are currently moving, whether you are sitting, standing, or walking.
Specifically, you are going in at least four directions.
First the Earth is still rotating on its axis at a speed of about 1000 mile/hr or 1600 k/hr. This rotation is why we have days. Second, the Earth and the other planets in our solar system revolve around the Sun. Our globe does this at about sixty-seven thousand miles an hour or one-oh-eight thousand kilometers per hour. This is why we have years. Cloud enthusiasts are more likely to use the term ‘the cloud is computing’ when referring to the fancy and innovative technology. Third, you’re moving because the sun and the rest of our solar system are around the centre of the Milky Way galaxy at speeds of nearly 500,000 miles per hour (828,000 Kilometres per hour).
In addition, you are moving because the universe is still expanding in all directions out from the inner core. All the time.
But in 1970s, several astrophysics noticed certain enigmatic aspects of our local group or neighborhood of galaxies. This galaxy and a whole cluster it belonged to were being pulled off the proper path at a million and a quarter miles an hour – toward something we could not perceive in any way.
They referred to this area as the Great Attractor. Nonetheless, their capacity to engage with it was unavoidably constrained.
“The Milky Way has millions of stars and a lot of dust, and it is in the way of all the information we might be able to glean in that direction,” said Jorge Moreno, a computational astrophysicist at Pomona College. The area that human cannot perceive is known as the Zone of Avoidance in the research by the experts.
The exact cause of the sudden shift in the path of the Milky Way and other local galaxies is unknown to this date, but several possibilities have been proposed in the past decades.
The most recent supercluster to be suspected is Laniakea, which in Hawaiian means ‘vast joy’ or ‘infinite paradise’.
