Although we’ve been looking for other signs of intelligent life out there in the Universe for more than half a century — searching for extraterrestrial intelligence — we have yet to obtain robust evidence that it exists.

Creating life involves many steps, but the necessary ingredients are abundant everywhere. Even if you’re searching for life similar to ours, the Universe offers countless possibilities. If the ingredients for life are common, and we evolved naturally, then “where is everyone else?”
