Scientists Claim the Universe Shouldn’t Exist Due to the Strange Behavior of Antimatter

At the time of the Big Bang the theories state that there should be equal quantities of matter and antimatter in the universe. Because matter and antimatter as soon as they come across each other, turn into energy in the simplest form of light, then there should have been no matter left after the big bank. But the universe that exists today is made up of matter only and that is why scientists have tried to establish whether there could be a difference between matter and anti-matter in terms of magnetism or electric charge so that the matter could survive.

Yet, the researchers have not been able to identify any evidence of the above claim*. This has culminated in the rather confusing premise that according to all known theories the universe “should not exist. ”

Many of the top physicists ponder over one question still as to why the universe did not collapse at the time of its formation. According to the standard model, matter and antimatter particles were created with equal quantity and should therefore have mutually destroyed each other in cosmological experiments leaving no materials to birth galaxies, stars and planets.

Many theories have been set forward by the scientific community to explain as to why this did not occur and these include establishing from a list of hypotheses, whether matter and antimatter differ in mass, electric charge or in any of other fundamental characteristics. But up to now they were not able to find any difference.

‘What we see,’ concluded Christian Smorra, a researcher at CERN, ‘This is all fully consistent with matter and antimatter and the fact that they annihilate each other when they meet. ’ Although there must be an asymmetry of some kind, nobody yet knows what it is. One recent idea was that there may be a difference in their magnetic properties and, surprise, no difference there either.

CERN researchers when analyzing the antiprotons by employing specific ‘Penning traps’ were surprised to discover that, matter and antimatter are actually equal. They are eager on carrying out more research with the aim of solving the mystery of any variations.
