NASA’s Cryobots: Navigating Icy Depths for Alien Life on Europa and Enceladus
Two moons, in particular, that of Jupiter and Saturn, respectively have intrigued the minds of astrobiologists. Jupiter’s moon, Europa, and Saturn’s moon, Enceladus, both have shown strong evidence of a global subsurface ocean beneath its kilometers-thick water-ice crust.
Since the revelation, the next big step for scientists has been finding out ways to cut through the thick water ice covering the moons. Scientists have now narrowed down a roadmap.
Robots will be sent to these natural satellites of Jupiter and Saturn to explore the subsurface seas in search of life.
