NASA Reveals What’s Hidden beneath the Surface of Pluto!
The surface of Pluto is the outermost layer of the dwarf planet, composed of various types of ices and rock. It is characterized by a diverse landscape of mountains, valleys, and plains, as well as a variety of different types of ices, including nitrogen, methane, and carbon monoxide.
The surface also features a thin atmosphere of nitrogen and small amounts of other gases. Due to its distance from the sun and low temperature, most of the surface of Pluto remains frozen, with occasional patches of surface activity such as ice volcanoes and seasonal changes in surface features.
In 2006, Pluto lost its official status as a planet. Since then, the tiny planet at the far edge of the star system has belonged to the group of dwarf planets. Pluto shares this designation with other microplanets located even farther out in the so-called Kuiper belt. Shortly after the degradation to the dwarf planet Pluto seemed to show the researchers the “planet stink finger”, because the small planet suddenly revealed a whole set at surprises, researchers hadn’t counted on!
Now the scientists of NASA are taking another look at Pluto and are even considering sending a probe to the outermost edge of the solar system.
We can find out which recent discoveries have got scientists so excited.
