NASA researchers have devised a method to launch a voyage to the “alien-Oumuamua.”
Project Lyra was developed by American and British researchers at the Initiative for Interstellar Studies to thoroughly investigate the asteroid ‘Oumuamua.
They claim that the probe, which will be launched in 2028, would reach its destination in 26 years.
The equipment will be able to capture images, which will make it feasible to determine if this object is an extraterrestrial ship or just a randomly moving space pebble.
Oumuamua, an object, passed through the solar system in 2017. Astronomers have been puzzling over whether it is an extraterrestrial ship or an asteroid for the past five years since it travelled so far and so quickly that they were unable to analyze it.
Astronomers at the University of Hawaii saw an unfathomable visitor hurtling towards the Sun at a speed of 100,000 kilometers per hour.
International astronomers have computed its course. Hyperbole implies that the enigmatic thing is coming from somewhere else. The phrase “the messenger who arrived first from afar” is essentially how the Hawaiian word Oumuamua is translated.
The object’s behavior seemed odd, and its form did not resemble an asteroid. It did not fly in a ballistic direction, but instead sometimes accelerated as if the motor had been switched on and off.
The researchers thought back to Arthur C. Clarke’s science fiction book Rendezvous with Rama. He was speaking of a solar system-wide item that the Space Patrol had also discovered. This time, a comparable event actually took place.
They also think Oumuamua is not built of stone and is not dustless like an asteroid since it reflects too much light. The object has a complicated metallic form that is typical of interplanetary spacecraft, according to Karen Meech, a researcher at the Hawaiian Institute of Astronomy.
Professor of astronautics Avi Loeb argued that “Oumuamua” was either an unmanned vessel or a broken reconnaissance probe.
