A new object, namely Comet C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS is newly discovered celestial body that attracted much attention among astronomers. Originally observed in the beginning of the year January 2023 by the Tsuchinshan (Purple Mountain Observatory) China and the Asteroid Terrestrial-Impact Last Alert System (ATLAS) this particular comet is one that passes in the solar system.
The motion of C/2011 L4 shows that it came from the distant outer solar system grazing the Oort cloud which is made of ice. Astronomers have estimated that it will come to the nearest distance to the Sun in late 2024 and if it will be brightening as predicted could be visible from earth. This large sized object that is moving at rapid speed is likely to shed light into the nature of early solar system materials given that the icy nucleus of this comet contains billions of years old substance. People are watching its path with interest with the goal to find out how it will change as it moves closer to the Sun.
