How James Webb Might Detect Artificial Lights On Proxima b
The upcoming James Webb Space Telescope is set to launch on 22 December 2021. It’s the biggest and the most complicated space telescope built over the last 25 years.
With its exceptional infrared capabilities, the James Webb Space Telescope will be able to probe the most distant parts of the cosmos and enable us to look billions of years back in time, when the universe was in its cradle.
Of the four great observatories, Hubble told us the universe is 13.8 billion years old. Chandra Observatory provided us with evidence of the existence of dark matter. Compton gave us a complete picture of the galactic center of the Milky Way. And Spitzer made it possible to discover some of the oldest stars in the universe. But none of these great observatories has been able to detect signs of alien life.
And the James Webb Space Telescope is expected to achieve this feat by starting with the nearest exoplanet: Proxima Centauri b.
But how exactly would Webb do that?
