Elon Musk FINALLY Announces Interest In Controlled Nuclear Fusion!
The clean energy subsidiary of Tesla, Inc. is called Tesla Energy. It creates, produces, markets, sells, and installs photovoltaic solar energy generation systems, battery energy storage devices, and other associated goods and services for consumers who are residential, commercial, and industrial.
On April 30, 2015, Tesla CEO Elon Musk revealed that the business would use the battery technology it developed for electric automobiles in a home energy storage device named the Powerwall. This announcement led to the division’s establishment. In a US$2.6 billion acquisition in November 2016, Tesla acquired SolarCity, expanding Tesla Energy’s scope to include solar energy generation. This transaction generated controversy because SolarCity was having cash flow problems at the time of the acquisition.
However, just recently, the tech billionaire announced his intention to use controlled nuclear fusion. What is this, and how are we going to benefit from it?

The human race is at a crossroads as the twenty-first century begins. An innovative and robust strategy to energy production is required given the expanding problems posed by climate change as well as the continuously rising need for energy. A number of tech titans, including Elon Musk, have expressed their support for nuclear energy, particularly fusion energy, as a viable answer.
One of the biggest and most difficult scientific issues is nuclear fusion, and some of the wealthiest investors in the world have poured money into firms that are attempting to solve it. Fusion is the mechanism that powers the sun, where a powerful gravitational force smashes atoms together and releases their energy. It has long been seen as the pinnacle of the hunt for clean and abundant energy. A long-sought-after scientific accomplishment was finally reached in the latter half of 2022, marking advancement in an area beset by frustrating technological obstacles and pessimism regarding immediate prospects.
What scientists achieved thus far?
The most powerful laser in the world was directed onto a peppercorn-sized diamond capsule containing hydrogen by researchers at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California in December 2022. A reaction that fused the hydrogen into helium and released 3.15 megajoules was started by the beams’ 2.05 megajoules of energy. A hand grenade releases roughly the same amount of energy as the difference, which is a little bit more than a megajoule.
The outcome, known as “ignition” or net energy gain (meaning more energy is going out than coming in), was a breakthrough that researchers had been working toward for years. It implied that the fundamental physics governing controlled fusion had been broken, opening the door to the development of a method for making inexpensive, carbon-free electricity. After multiple failed tries, the same lab finally succeeded in duplicating the success in July.
