The true nature of something is often obscured when viewed from within, and this is particularly evident when considering our own Milky Way Galaxy. It was not until 1923 that Edwin Hubble discovered conclusive proof that the Milky Way was merely one of numerous galaxies. Despite this breakthrough, the assumption persisted for many years that the Milky Way possessed the typical form of a spiral galaxy.
