Scientists have been analysing the notion that time is not as real as we might think, it may be simply something we have made up to make sense of the world. Earth moves around the sun, we measure the amount of time in seconds, minutes and hours, but that is just a human made system.

According to some physicists, the universe — past, present and future all exist in the grand scheme of things, and what we see as ‘now’ is an illusion. And this idea springs from the kind of theory you find in relativity, like Einstein supported, where speed or gravity can stretch or shrink the time.

Without humans to track it, there’s no guarantee that ‘time’ as we know it even exists – it’s more like a big, bendy thing. It’s super weird to think about, but it makes you wonder: what is real, anyway?
