Scientists Discovered the Bermuda Triangle of Space
Astronomers have identified a part of space called the “Space Bermuda Triangle” though its formal name is the South Atlantic Anomaly. This region lies over the southern part of the Atlantic Ocean and is the point where the earth’s inner Van Allen radiation belt is nearest to the surface of the earth, and therefore more vulnerable to radiation.
The SAA is problematic for satellites and spacecraft that move through it as the radiation level may lead to technical failures, destroy devices, and disrupt measurements.
It has therefore been likened to the dreaded Bermuda Triangle on earth, famous for mystery disappearances and tricks of navigation. This is why researchers persist in their efforts to learn more about the SAA and how it affects space missions, as well as how to prevent its negative effects on satellites and other space-based technologies.
