The Race to a Habitable Exoplanet – Time Warp Challenge
The discovery of exoplanets, or planets around other stars than the Sun, was a great achievement of space exploration science and technology. About 5000 exoplanets are known today, but this is still a small fraction of those expected from the billions of stars in our galaxy. Recognizing habitable worlds around other stars is a challenging process. Exoplanets are very far away, and most of them are only known by their effect on their parent star. Only a few have been directly imaged, those large and hot enough. Even with these observational limitations, scientists are starting to identify potential habitable exoplanets within the thousands of exoplanets that have been detected so far.
You’ve discovered a habitable exoplanet, but so has an an evil interplanetary mining corporation.
Can you get to the planet before they strip it bare and leave it unsuitable for life? You’re going to need a ship, the Lorentz Transformation and the Wait Equation. Hang on, it’s going to be a bumpy ride.
