Chief Executive Officer of Tesla Inc. and SpaceX, Elon Musk, recently shared his thoughts on the future of humanity in space on X. He wrote that “Humanity should have a moon base, cities on Mars and be out there among the stars!”

Musk, considering the advancements that have been made in the field of space travel, made the following observation: “Only 66 years from first flight to landing on the moon, but now half a century has passed since the last moon landing. That cannot be our high-water mark as a civilization.” Likewise he honors the Wright brothers’ first flight, which took place in 1903 and is considered to be the turning point in the history of aviation.

Musk has ambitious goals that go beyond the Earth’s orbit. He intends to first build a human settlement on the moon that is permanently inhabited, and then he will move on to colonize Mars. Within the next four years, it is anticipated that SpaceX’s Starship mega-rocket, which is an essential component of Musk’s plans, may possibly attempt to carry out an unmanned journey to Mars.
