Astronomers Uncover Alien Planet Highly Suitable for Habitation, Boasting an 84% Probability – a Record High

The Kepler mission discovered a planet orbiting the star KOI-3010 using the transit method.

Scientists are intrigued by this planet due to its Earth-like characteristics. Situated in the constellation Lyra, the red dwarf KOI-3010 lies at a distance of 1213 light-years from our solar system. This star, possibly aged at 13.9 billion years, is considered ancient. Its accompanying celestial body, KOI-3010.01 or KOI-3010 b, is characterized as a warm super-Earth—greater in mass than Earth but considerably smaller than gas giants.

It completes one orbit around its star in approximately 60 Earth days.

The emergence and evolution of life on this planet are shaped by various environmental conditions. With an average temperature of 19.6 degrees Celsius, it boasts a radius 1.35 times that of Earth. Although limited information is available about its atmospheric composition, there is an assumption that it closely resembles Earth’s atmosphere. The mass index remains undetermined, but researchers speculate that the exoplanet KOI-3010.01 may not only possess a temperate climate akin to Earth but also harbor a liquid ocean covering around 65% of its surface.

There is a prevailing belief that the chemical composition of exoplanets closely aligns with that of Earth. Notably, it resides within the habitable zone, and its similarity index to Earth is 0.84 (with a maximum value of 1). Consequently, scientists consider it to have a high probability of supporting life.
