5 Events That We Will See In 50 Years Due To Climate Change
The fact is, the world’s climate is changing, to what extent, that is a question, which is a matter of debate. We mentioned this in previous videos that though climate change is a natural phenomena that occurs on our planet, we are exacerbating it.
This means that change processes which would normally happen over thousands of years will happen in the space of half a century.
But what sort of events would we likely be witnessing in the next 50 years due to climate change?
Higher risk frequency and severity of climate disasters
As we have mentioned earlier in other clips and discussions with other people. Global warming is also linked with frequent occurrence of natural disasters including hurricane, wildfire, flood, and heat wave. These extreme events thereby pose disastrous impacts on ecosystems and humanity as well.
Changes in climate conditions impact both renewable and non-renewable sources of energy, whereby there is likely to be instability and inefficiency in the energy supply. This is evidenced mainly by the variations of water sources, increase in temperatures, and increased incidence of extreme climate conditions.
Global warming is greatly altering the hydrological processes in the earth, and the ways water resources are being distributed across the global spectrum. This phenomenon is mainly expressed in climatic variations particularly rainfall distribution, leading to more frequent and severe droughts and floods. Now let us analyse two extreme trends of this process.
Factors affecting ecosystems and species’ extinction
The changes in weather patterns are harming ecosystems and fast tracking extinction of species faster than previously expected. Some factors that lead to the decrease of bio diversity include deterioration of habitats, change in behavior pattern and the inability to adjust to the climactic changes within a short time. Two regions of the world are most at risk for this, and, to quote Keith Richards, they are both places that are beyond price.
Global Warming: Melting Glaciers and Sea Level Rise
Glaciers are melting, and the resulting increase in Sea Levels is something that is actually occurring and is expected to worsen in the next few decades due to Climate Change. Of all the areas of the Earth, it is the polar regions that are most at risk with regards to this.
